Talk Less Listen More
For Early Years Educators, OSHC and ECE Teachers

Equip staff with the knowledge and skills to effectively guide behaviour, build relationships and teach self-regulation through Emotion Coaching.

Talk Less Listen More is a professional development training course for early childhood educators, OSCH educators and early childhood teachers.

Overview

One of the biggest challenges facing educators is how to help young children develop social-emotional skills and improve self-regulation. These abilities can be taught from a young age. Children with a higher level of self-regulation tend to do better at school, because they have greater control over their emotions and can more effectively manage setbacks.

Educator Training

Early years educators will learn easy- to- use and effective techniques that can be used by all staff, resulting in a consistent approach to behaviour guidance, and inclusion support.

The program is founded upon attachment theory (how relationships can influence behaviour) and social- learning theory (how children can be taught how to self-regulate by those around them).

Talk Less Listen More is simple, effective and easy to apply.

Outcomes and benefits of Talk Less Listen More:

  • Creates consistency and a common language across the centre
  • Provides children with predictable responses to behaviour and emotions
  • Leaves more time for supporting well-being and engagement
  • Strengthens relationships
  • Builds parents’ trust and confidence in your behaviour guidance
  • Lessens educator stress and improves teamwork

Innovative Solutions: Guided Practice Project

Behaviour Tonics can collaborate with your service to provide a Guided Practice Project to address the barriers to inclusion related to challenging behaviour and children presenting with trauma-related behaviour.  We will equip your staff with the knowledge and skills to effectively guide behaviour, build relationships, teach self-regulation through Emotion Coaching and positive behaviour support.

As per the guidelines from the Guided Practice Project Guide:  ‘Guided Practice’ involves a combination of content delivery and practical support (in the form of coaching and mentoring). This is the model we have successfully implemented and continue to support in over 50+ WA schools, ELCs and OSHCs.
